Waste Audits

Nine solid waste audits were completed on CVUSD school campuses in October 2012.

These audits revealed a wealth of information about what’s in our schools’ trash cans. It’s important to note that over 62% – or almost two thirds – of materials found in the trash on CVUSD campuses was food waste, which could be recycled into compost or recovered for the hungry.

Videos of solid waste audits are also available on the CVUSD Recycles YouTube Channel.

Teachers! Download raw data from the audits here. Students can apply math and statistics concepts to draw conclusions about waste and recycling activities on CVUSD campuses.
